Mrs. Farrell’s Home Hostel Closes in 2006

By Josh • July 8th, 2006

UPDATE: a new hostel in Burlington is opening June 2010.

The Burlington Free Press reports that a hostel in Burlington, Vermont is closing (2006).

“For 31 years, Mrs. Farrell’s Home Hostel has endured — 12 years as a cottage near Malletts Bay in Colchester and the last 19 years as a six-bed house at 27 Arlington Court in Burlington’s New North End. . .

All of that is about to end. Mrs. Farrell’s Home Hostel is for sale. The 73-year-old owner said she wants to spend her latter years in Washington state to be near her daughter. That means Burlington could be off the map as an inexpensive destination for many young travelers.”
