An article from Australia talks about Flashpacking:

“‘Many people still think of the term backpacking as derogatory,’ said Nomads director Richard McLeod.

‘We are now providing hostel accommodation up to three-star hotel quality.’

Some have ensuites, swimming pools and movie lounges.

Tourism New Zealand’s general manager for corporate communications, Cas Carter, said the word flashpacking had been in use in New Zealand for three years and referred to the upscaling of hostels and to backpackers carrying hi-tech gear.”
