‘Flashpackers’ roam the globe

A new type of backpacker is roaming the globe.

“‘Flashpacking is just backpacking, with an awful lot of tech gear going along for the ride,’ said Lee Gimpel, 29, a writer from Virginia who “flashpacked” around India for a few months and recorded his adventures at www.PassingThroughIndia.com.

…A survey completed earlier this year by 2,561 visitors to the Hostelworld.com website found that 21% of them travel with a laptop, 54% with an MP3 player, 83% with a cellphone and 86% with a digital camera.”
